Korean pianist Jung Eun Yoon has been playing piano since the age of six, and studied at the Yewon School of the Arts and Seoul High School of Arts. At age 16, she went to the USA to study with Professor Wha Kyung Byun at the New England Conservatory in Boston where she earned the Bachelor of Music. Also she studied with Prof. Matti Raekallio and Prof. Choong-Mo Kang at the Juilliard School, and earned Master of Music degree. Ms. Yoon is pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Seoul National University under the guidance of Professor Hie-Yon Choi. Whilst her studies, she received the Wallace Scholarship, Juilliard Alumni Scholarship, Bernard P. & Leigh M. Seder Scholarship, and SNU Alumni Scholarship.
As she started her doctoral studies at SNU, Ms. Yoon developed a distinct interest in modern music, and worked as a coordinator at Studio2021 project at SNU. Currently she is a member of Ensemble 2021, and performing various repertoires of 20th and 21st centuries.
Her award-winning performances were at the age of eighteen when she won first prizes in the New England Philharmonic Young Artist Competition as well as the Concord Orchestra Young Artists Competition. She performed as soloist with these orchestras playing Prokofiev’s piano concerto No. 3 in 2005 and 2006 with Richard Pittman conducting.
Ms. Yoon has won awards in Korea including the Korea Times Young Artist Competition, the National Teenager Competition, the Kookmin Competition, the Chunchu Music Competition, and the Bechstein Competition. She won the Oberlin International Piano Competition, Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, International Chamber Music Ensemble Competition, and NEC Piano Department Honors Competition.
Her solo recital performances in Korea include the Prodigies Recital Series, and the Young Artist Series recitals in Kumho Art-Hall, recitals at Seoul Arts Center and Samick Art-Hall. Other solo performances include the Euro Music Festival in Leipzig, the Messiaen Festival, and the Schumann Festival at Jordan Hall in Boston.
An experienced chamber musician, Ms. Yoon has appeared in piano quartet and trio performances at Jordan Hall in Boston, and in NYC at Alice Tully Hall and Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall.
Ms. Yoon is currently teaching at Seoul National University, Hanyang University, Kyung Hee University, Kookmin University, Sookmyung Women's University, Yewon, Seoul Arts High School, Gyewon Arts High School.
